Commercializing Deep Tech: How can Sweden turn scientific breakthroughs into scalable industrial business?

Do you think you could contribute to this circle? Fill out an application here.

First circle-meeting is 25 June in Almedalen.

Sweden has world-class research, advanced engineering capabilities and a strong industrial base. But too many deep-tech innovations still struggle to move from technical proof to commercial traction. The journey from lab, prototype or proof-of-concept to repeatable business is long, capital-intensive and often dependent on industrial partners, patient customers and new ways of sharing risk.

This Circle brings startups, scale-ups and established industry leaders together to explore one of the most important questions for Sweden’s future competitiveness: how do we become better at commercializing deep-tech innovation?

The focus is not on innovation as a general ambition, but on the hard commercial realities of deep tech: how to validate a market before the market is mature, how to move from pilot to purchase order, how to build for industrialization early, and how to align customers, investors and partners around technologies that may take years to scale.

Together, participants will examine what it really takes to turn advanced technology into repeatable business and how Sweden can build stronger pathways between research, startups, industrial companies, investors and global markets.

We’ll focus on three key areas:

  • From technical proof to market proof
What needs to be validated before customers, partners and investors truly believe in the opportunity?
  • From pilot to purchase order
How can deep-tech companies move beyond demos, pilots and PoCs and secure the first real commercial customer?
  • From breakthrough to industrial scale
What capabilities, partnerships, capital models and go-to-market strategies are needed to turn deep tech into scalable business?
